The Peñarroya Group successfully completes its second 50th anniversary business forum entitled “Affectionate business, effective business”

As part of its programme of events organised to mark its 50th anniversary, the Peñarroya Group has successfully completed its second business forum. This forum was named “People Management. Affectionate business, effective business”, and it showcased one of the features that has identified the group over the past fifty years; the importance of people and the value of human teams in business organisations.

The forum, which enjoyed support from ESESA and Management Activo, was attended by over 120 businesspeople from Malaga, Andalusia and other parts of Spain; people involved in human resources were particularly well represented.

This forum was attended by two speakers who are experts in this area: María Jesús Álava (President of Apertia, of the Alava Reyes Foundation and Director of the Álava Reyes Psychology Centre) who placed emphasis on the fact that “happiness has to be worked on and learned”, and that “workers are more involved and happy when they have more of a sensation of being part of a family”.

Next up was an exciting presentation by Pedro García Aguado (ex-water polo player, gold medallist at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996, television coaching programme presenter and conference speaker), who focused on the need to change and adapt to different challenges that we have to face during life. García Aguado took us on a journey through his “apparently successful life” as an Olympic athlete to highlight the fact that “failure teaches us what success hides” and that “success and failure are two major impostors”.

Following the presentations by both experts, a round table debate was held between the two speakers and Remedios Miralles, HR Corporate Director at the Peñarroya Group. The moderator of this debate was Juande Mellado, Director of the newspaper La Opinión de Málaga. The debate mainly focused on corporate efficiency and productive happiness, with an emphasis on the importance of internal communication, and worker motivation and happiness to ensuring that the company operates well.
